Social Impacts of Video Conferencing

Social Impacts of Video Conferencing
Video conferencing is a way of having a face to face conversation via a webcam. Video conferencing is mainly used in business meetings. When people have a meeting through video conferencing with other people from another country e.g. America the video conference would have to be arranged at a specific time so everyone can take part in the conference. Although it is a good way to have a meeting without having to pay travel expenses. Video conferencing isn’t as good as face to face communication because people in the meeting can’t really express themselves through their body language because they are talking through a webcam. Also the people in the meeting will not be making proper eye contact with other people that they are talking too. Also there could be a bad connection with the other people in the meeting so webcams could freeze. The people in the meeting could meet up after the video conference depending on the location of the other people and they could go out for meals etc so that is a good social impact. That means that you could be away from relatives for a while. I chose a blog as a specialist communication channel because it’s on the internet and it can be viewed by anyone with a computer that has the address to the blog. Also blogs can be edited to how you want them so the background colour can be changed etc. You can add as many posts as you want to your blog about anything that you want to write about and they can also be viewed by other people, and they can comment on your posts. Other people cannot edit your blog so there is no worry about your blog getting edited.

Potential Threats with IT
Viruses are a potential threat with using IT and there are many different viruses that can attack your computer such as Trojans and worms. Another potential threat is hacking, hacking is where someone hacks in to your computer and hack into just about anything. Hackers can even hack into your blog. Data theft is another potential threat; data theft is where someone steals your details such as bank details and passwords. Solutions to protect your computer from viruses is to get some virus protection for your computer e.g. Norton Anti Virus.  Opening email attachments from unknown users could result in getting a computer worm. So the solution to that would be never to open email attachments from unknown users.
Using Blogs Safely
To use a blog safely you should never put personal details on your blog because other people can access your blog. Always keep your password safe so no one else can access your data. Another way of keeping your blog safe is by never giving your blog address to people that you don’t know. Do virus checks on things such as music before you post it onto your blog to ensure that other people do not get viruses.
